I remember hearing early versions of Shakedown live, and having only known the tepid studio version, was blown away by its funkiness and intensity live. I also have a vivid memory of seeing a huge banner at a Nassau show being walked around the perimeter that read "Disco Dead"...not sure if that was meant to be a compliment or criticism about Shakedown but the song fas became a fan fave.

Other songs that blew my doors out consistently live were Jack Straw, Other One, and Scarlet>Fire.

Yep--I have always been somewhat of a critic of SDStreet, albumwise, BUT seeing the songs of that period live, it was amazing what intensity Phil and the drummers could bring to it! It was not unlike what I "hear" in the shows of 68 that I love so dearly, but in a totally new spirit of course. Many of those songs live could pack much more of a punch than you'd expect from the studio version.

Hey, is this the record thread exchange for a 68 and 77 pair of fans? If we can do it, perhaps there is hope for the Middle East afterall.

Good day to you Grendel!
